In mineral processing and hydrometallurgical plant design, a flowsheet is too often treated as a finished deliverable. It is better understood as a structured hypothesis — and its most underestimated weakness is the undercharacterisation of feed variability. Designing for the average rather than the range builds risk that compounds at every stage toward FID.
